It's Not The Real Deal

I recently read a posting at The Princess And The Blog that was written on the television series Army Wives. In this blog the writer describes that the show proves how the standard and code of the army wife has changed. Tell me this though, what was that code!?
As the writer goes on in this blog, she says, "I myself would rather see the backstabbing, the gossip, and the pure unadulterated truth."She sees the show as the true lifestyle of an army wife when really the producer is putting the backstabbing, the gossip, and the pure unadulterated truth to please the audiences watching it. There's no "real life" to any television show. Army Wives to me is just another a soap opera. This show is far from the real, truthful life of military wives and their loved ones.
The only thing that catches the audiences attention is the word "Army" in the title. Being a country at war, this makes people want to watch it. People want to understand what soldiers and their families go through. I have served six years in the army. I have been to combat. I had to leave my wife and daughter behind. The producers of this show truly don't capture the meaning of the emotional state in which families and soldiers go through during deployment. They don't even come close to caputuring the true emotions of a father leaving his daughter and watching her grow and learn without him,or the emotions in which a daughter goes through as she receives the folded flag that was just draped over her mother's casket.
What I have learned through my military experience is that you shouldn't believe anything on television unless its live footage. You will never get the real emotions of what we soldiers and our families go through. I can see why this show would piss off a lot of soldiers and there families. If you really want to know how it feels, marry a soldier.

I can actually see where you are coming from. And you having been in the military you can see the truth and the lies that the show has. In fact my boyfriend is in the army and he has watched it with me a few times and he doesn't like it all that much either.I lived on an army base for two years and I have seen drama just like that on the show and I have been to many soliders funerals and watching a military funeral on army wives I feel all those emotions that I felt at those funerals flooding back. So when i marry my soldier I'll get to see the real truth of being an army wife.
Thank you for serving our country!! What is your MOS?

I agree 100%. I myself was once a Army wife. I know the issues that go along with being a wife and having to sit back and watch my husband go through all the b-s. think the series doesnt really give the viewers the real truth, it reminds me of a soap. I admire those who serve our country and those who are wives and husband of those who put their lives at risk for our country.

I can not really relate to this blog personally, but my friend who just recently had a baby can realte a lot. Her husband found ou last November that he was going to be shipped to Baghdad, Iraq for eight months. This struck her so much. Espically since she has her own buisness and just had found out that she was pregnant at the time. She has been a tropper thats for sure and she does watch this show every week when it comes on. Though she says its not the real truth but it helps a little knowing that there are other women out there going through the same thing.
