The number one thing that makes me feel uncomfortable is dressing to impress. I regularly wear just normal loose fit clothing , not really caring if it matches or not. Letting my tattoo's and piercings show, cause its just another characteristic, that makes me feel more as myself.
Recently I had to wear a nice”dress to impress” outfit. It was a nice black button up shirt with a gray sweater vest,and khaki pants. No piercings or tattoos showing, I felt really out of place and not like myself. As the day went by I realized, by friends and professors talking to me, that just because I was dressed up nice, or what they call” cleans up well”. I knew that either way I dressed, I was still me. I could still make my friends laugh and still have a good time. It didn't change who I was on the inside and people still seen me as who I truly was.
I really enjoyed this experience and it taught me that my appearance doesn't change ,who I really am.
